Bailey Poesnecker is a multi-style violist and violinist actively teaching and performing in the Twin Cities.

Currently artist in residence with the Global Music Initiative at the MacPhail Center for Music and winner of the 2020 ADT grant from the McKnight Foundation, she has commissioned works that blend the lines between jazz, classical, and Americana.

Bailey constantly explores new skills to perform and teach in a 21st century-relevant way.

Coming from a primarily classical background, Bailey began exploring other genres and ways of music making as a teenager. She seeks out opportunities outside her comfort zone; that’s where the magic happens. She brings her enthusiasm for exploration to both her performing and teaching endeavors, seeking to teach her students how to listen deeply and actively participate in creating.
